Tadcaster Albion AFC are delighted to announce that the club have won £25,000 worth of building materials thanks to Buildbase’s Transfer Deal.

Danny Gore, Andy Charlesworth and Nelly Sanderson (pictured) recently ventured down to Wembley Stadium to pitch for Buildbase’s building materials against two fellow FA Trophy participating clubs in AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Felixstowe & Walton United. The good news broke on Saturday and everyone associated with Tadcaster Albion are over the moon to have been chosen as winners as this will go a long way with ground improvements.

In a statement released by the building merchants, the judging panel and The FA selected Tadcaster Albion because the bursary will enable the club to renovate its facilities that were devastated in the floods of 2015. The much-needed materials will be put to great use developing an external toilet block as well as creating a hospitality area, first-aid room and junior storage facilities.

Tadcaster Albion’s Chairman, Andy Charlesworth said: “This means that we can maintain our facilities and position in the league so we can stand proud in our local community. Supporting grassroots football is really important. Buildbase has championed an excellent programme which is really important to clubs like us, enabling us to pitch for much needed refurbishment.”

Ian McConville, Procurement Director at Buildbase said: “Tadcaster Albion was decimated by floods, so this club really needs investment to provide basic facilities at a local level.

“Our £100k Transfer Deal is brilliant for grassroots football, the clubs, volunteers, players and fans. When you see the extent of time and commitment volunteers give up, we’re very proud to do as much as we can to help these clubs locally.”

The Buildbase renovation programme has been running since the builders’ merchant became the title sponsor of the FA Trophy and Vase in 2016. So far, building materials worth up to £200,000 has been given away. Previous winners include Hanwell Town, Cleethorpes Town, Cheadle Town and Needham Market.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all at Buildbase UK and we look forward to work closing with your York store to enhance our facilities at the i2i Stadium and sustain our position in the footballing pyramid. The Buildbase £100k Transfer Deal is a fantastic initiative which offers crucial ground improvements for Non-League clubs. We love how passionate they are about Non-League football and they understand just how much time and effort volunteers put into their beloved clubs.

Finally, thank you to everyone who took the time out to vote for us in the initial stages of the competition. Remarkably, due to the incredible nature of the Leeds United fans, we received over 3,000 votes, almost treble the amount of the team which finished in second place.
