Walters Keen To Solidify Play-Off Place

Jack Walters has had to patiently wait for his chance to showcase what he can do, to which he’s now starting to do.

After his third consecutive start at left-back, Walters looked assured once again as Taddy ran out comfortable 3-1 winners at Belper Town last week.

“I was really pleased with the all-round performance from all the lads last Saturday” said the defender.

“I thought everyone worked hard for each other and when that happens you tend to come out with the right result, and that’s exactly what happened.”

Albion went into the match on the back of a heavy County Cup defeat to Ossett United but bounced back in the best way possible.

“It was vital that we put in a good performance at Belper and got a positive result after the midweek defeat. We have been on a good run recently in the league which is our priority so bouncing back was very important.”

Taddy’s home form hasn’t quite lived up to their away record so far this season and Walters can’t quite pinpoint why that is.

“I’m not too sure why we seem to have a better away record as everything at the i2i stadium is class. We do tend to play a different style of football when we play away from home as pitches are not always the standard of Tadcaster’s so that could potentially be a factor. We can’t use that as an excuse though, we should be doing better at home and hopefully we can give the fans more to shout about.”

Walters has been battling it out with Aaron Hardy for the left-back position and after several consecutive starts, he’s hoping he can keep his place.

“I’ve had to be patient but I’ve now got a chance so it’s important that I perform to the best of my ability as the squad is very strong. I am pleased with my current performance but I still think that I can do more which hopefully will come as I get more game time.”

“Every game is big, I would like to see us push on and get ourselves secure in the play-off positions over the next few weeks and that hopefully starts with a win over Stamford this afternoon.”
