Match Preview : Tadcaster Albion v Glasshoughton Welfare, NCEL Premier, 05/04/14.

On Saturday, The Brewers play at home to Glasshoughton Welfare in the NCEL Premier League. The season is coming to its climax, so as with every week now, 3 points is needed to keep the pressure on the teams chasing us.

Glasshoughton are currently 18th in the league table. They are not in great form as they have lost 8 of their 10 league games played in 2014. They have conceded 90 goals this season to date with Barton Town Old Boys putting six past them last weekend. In the away game this season in October, The Brewers won 2-0 with goals by Carl Stewart and Danny Critchlow. Last season, we won 3-2 away at Glasshoughton and 3-1 at home with Carl Stewart, Terry Taylor and George Bissett amongst the goals.

In midweek, Brighouse Town moved into 2nd position in the league as they won 9-0 away at Lincoln Moorlands Railway. Worksop Parramore moved into 4th place as they won 1-0 at home to Parkgate and 3-0 away at Heanor Town. It is now closing up at the top as the games in hand continue to unwind. Brighouse Town are now just 5 points behind The Brewers with 3 games in hand, one of them being at home to Lincoln Moorlands Railway. Worksop Parramore are now 11 points behind with 4 games in hand. Barton Town Old Boys are now 7 points adrift with 2 games in hand, but they also still have to play at Tadcaster.

A win against Glasshoughton could really help our position as the other fixtures on the day give opportunities for the chasers to drop points. Something has to give at Brighouse Town as Worksop Parramore are the visitors whilst Barton Town Old Boys are on the road away at Thackley.

I predict a 3-0 victory for The Brewers, but every goal could be vital now as the league could easily be won on goal difference.
