There was an end of season feel at the i2i stadium on Saturday as The Brewers fell to defeat to Hyde United.

Manager Billy Miller named the same starting eleven that lost the County Cup Final on Tuesday night with Piteu Crouz and Jason Mycoe returning to the bench.

Taddy started the match on top with Tom Corner glancing an Armstrong cross just wide followed by Carl Stewart also firing off target.

Defender Gregg Anderson was close to continuing his recent goalscoring form lashing across the face of goal from Greening’s corner.

On an afternoon where the constant blusters of wind hampered an entertaining spectacle, the travelling Tigers took the lead seven minutes from the break.

After an obscene amount of headers and volleys back and forth around the Taddy penalty area, Matthew Beadle showed off his ingenuity to divert past Chandler Hallwood with an unorthodox yet affective overhead kick.

Despite being an uninspiring first half of football, Miller’s side spurned a golden chance right on half-time to go in all square.

Jono Greening clipped an inch perfect ball over the top for Carl Stewart to pounce upon but his prodded effort cannoned straight into goalkeeper Saunders.

Half-Time: Tadcaster Albion 0-1 Hyde United

After a number of scares at the back with Beadle and Coates both missing chances, Darren Kelly’s side did in fact double their lead sixteen minutes from time.

It was the number nine Beadle again on target, a much easier finish than the first nodding in from just a couple of yards.

However, the two goal deficit lasted less than two minutes as Gregg Anderson won a battle in the box before poking in his third goal of the season.

The goal certainly lifted the Brewers along with the fans as they pushed hard for an equaliser.

Substitute Piteu Crouz came on and brought a freshness to Taddy as the tricky winger continued to cause Hyde problems down the right-hand flank.

Incidentally it was Crouz who had the one big chance to pinch a point in the dying embers. Hallwood’s kick set the enigmatic Crouz in behind, he cut inside but could only strike into the chest of defender Harry Coates.

Despite a late surge, it was without doubt a poor performance from Taddy who will be looking ahead to next season already.
