The aptly nicknamed 'Yorkshire Pirlo' dropped to the floor in anguish four minutes into the second half of the pre-season friendly after a dangerous challenge from Celtic's Ryan Watson.
The Brewers have been somewhat fortunate to pick up no serious injuries in pre-season but this was certainly a scare for all watching on as he looked in some serious pain.
The midfielder limped off and was instructed to go get an x-ray by physio Lucy Lendhill. The initial signs weren't great but the scan confirmed that it was heavy bruising rather than a break.
Davidson is expected to miss Saturday's trip to Rossington Main as well as the Leeds game on Tuesday but may be back in training by the end of next week.
