This week we spoke to Chris Howarth to get his thoughts on the start to the season and how he has found his new role.

The defender/midfielder began by opening up about the Brewers’ inconsistencies.

“To be completely honest, we haven’t been anywhere near consistent enough for the quality we have in the squad.”

“At home we have been hard to beat, even if it means coming from behind like we did against Colne.”

“If we start to take our home form into away games then we won’t be far off where we need to be.”

“After going to Goole and not performing anywhere near what we can was extremely frustrating, especially after getting positive results the week before.”

Taddy got back on track last week with a morale boosting victory over Kendal Town at the i2i stadium.

“We took control of the game after 15 minutes, Kendal came at us early doors but we stuck together and did the simple things right.”

“We then started to play how we know we can and they couldn’t really handle the football at times.”

“It could have easily been more looking back at the chances we created, they scored a scrappy goal which seems to keep popping up against us lately.”

“Overall, I thought we were back to somewhere near what we can play like but Mikey and Si are always striving for improvement as much as the players are too.”

Albion haven’t found their rhythm on the road so far this campaign and Howarth is unsure as to why.

“I don’t know if it’s a mental situation at the minute going away from home with some bad results but we can’t take any game lightly.”

“Droylsden will be very tough, they like to play like us and the pitch at this time of year should suit us so hopefully we can take the Kendal game into Saturday.”

Somewhat surprisingly, Howarth has found himself now operating in the centre of midfield after starting out in his more familiar full-back role.

“I had a call from Mikey asking me my thoughts on putting me in midfield against Mossley.

I’ve played there for Bradford Park Avenue in the Conference North and Farsley a handful of times so it wasn’t something new. I wasn’t sure how I would take to it but I’m enjoying it, as long as it’s getting us results then that’s all that matters.”

“Going forward everyone is sticking together, we are still working hard and those results that are not going for us will be turning into three points I am confident of that!”

Taddy are back in action this coming Saturday when Droylsden is the destination.
