Read what the TAFC Directors had to say prior to Saturday's pre-season friendly with Doncaster Rovers.

We would like to issue a warm welcome to the management team, players, officials and supporters of Doncaster Rovers Football Club to the i2i stadium for our first home game of pre-season.

We are delighted to welcome Manager Darren Ferguson and Assistant Manager Gavin Strachan to Tadcaster today, two great football men with very famous fathers in Sir Alex Ferguson and Leeds legend Gordon Strachan.

While we are on the topic of welcoming people, we also welcome former Brewer Alfie Beestin back to the club.

Alfie was actually coached and moulded into the player he is today by Mikey & Simon bringing him through the i2i Football Academy for over two years.

Doncaster will provide a great challenge this afternoon, now back in League One and bringing their first-team, what an opportunity for our boys to test themselves against a Football League side.

Head Groundsman Dave Wakefield has worked tirelessly during the off-season and has done an absolutely outstanding job as ever to get the pitch looking like it does today. You won’t find many better playing surfaces than this in non-league and even in the lower leagues of the Football League.

We would also like to say a big thank you to all of the volunteers who have been down recently; sweeping, scrubbing, painting, fixing and general tidying. It really does make a huge difference.

Since our last programme notes there's been some significant changes made at the club as Michael Morton and Simon Collins were appointed as our new management team.

We are very much looking forward to the new season with a squad chomping at the bit to get going which includes nine new names, all of which are looking incredibly sharp along with those signed on again from last year.

We have had our one year bedding in period to this division, now we really want to kick on and be really competitive as we push for promotion.
