" If the team was a racehorse, it is now ready to run!"

Its great to bring the Town together with matches like this – it was a good attendance and everyone has had a good time. It was played in the right manner with no bad tackles or anything like that. The players had a good laugh on the pitch - both teams enjoyed it as well.

Good to see Jake Day get a hat trick; – when they are on a good run, strikers keep putting them in – they have that instinct. Donald Chimalilo was excellent – he has that pace and I am really looking forward to working with him. He has improved loads since we walked through the door and his trajectory is only one way – upwards!

The front three of Casey Stewart, Donald and Jake, have a little bit of everything – we can score all types of goals and I am very happy with that.

We are really going to miss Owen Marshall -such a great person with such ability; I am really looking forward to seeing how his game develops and I really hope he goes on to make a career out of football. He is a great footballer but this wonderful opportunity in America is one of those things he just could not turn down. We wish him well for the future.

I also would like to wish Jason Mycoe and Nathan Keightley all the best now that they have decided to move on to North Ferriby and back to Penistone Church respectively.

Touch wood we have a fully fit squad going into Tuesday and Thursday training as well as the final pre-season match against Bamber Bridge. We are going to work really hard this week – Tuesday will be one of the toughest sessions we have had, Thursday a little easier.

The main thing about Bamber Bridge is that we don’t pick up any knocks because fitness wise the lads are now ready. If the team was a racehorse, it is now ready to run!

Pre-season has been a long haul but when I arrived at the club there were only a few players and I needed the time to rebuild the whole football team. Our improvements have been excellent – we have got players I enjoy working with, that our young, hungry and pacey; plus we have a good blend of maturity especially in the back areas where I wanted it
