Coates Hoping Frickley Win Kick Starts Season

By Jay Taylor

This week we caught up with defender Harry Coates to get his reaction on Tuesday night’s 4-0 victory over Frickley as well as today’s challenge.

“It was a massive win for everyone involved at the club” stated Coates.

“The lads showed the standards we should be playing at week in week out. As a group we need to ensure that performance kick starts our season.”

The victory felt a long time coming and when asked why it has taken all this time, Coates wasn’t sure.

“It’s hard to say why it’s taken so long. The effort has been there every game from the lads however on Tuesday night it just clicked, we were brilliant both in and out of possession. We worked brilliantly as a team.”

“We have set our standards now and shown how good we can play together so there are no excuses, we need to perform at that level week in week out.”

Midweek also saw the Brewers record their first clean sheet of the season, something Coates was delighted with.

“As a defender you are judged on clean sheets so it was great to get off the mark personally.”

“We are expecting another tough game today however if we can replicate our performance from Tuesday night there is no team in this league we won’t beat.”
