This week we spoke to Harry Coates to discuss the Belper challenge and the race for the play-offs.

As January concluded last week, the Brewers recorded their first win of the new year beating Belper Town 2-1 at the i2i Stadium as Coates netted his second of the season after just two minutes.

“It was massive to get our first win of 2019, it’s the business end of the season and we now need to kick on and start a winning run that we know we are more than capable of.”

“The Belper game was a great test, different teams bring different challenges and as a player you have to adapt to the opposition.”

“I do love a good battle and literally everything went long so it was great to be constantly in the game and notch up the header count.”

“I was really pleased to get another goal, it’s great to help out the team not only defensively but also with a few goals too. I do think I can score more though so hopefully that tally will increase to help the team win as many games as possible come the end of the season.”

“As a defender keeping a clean sheet is always a priority so Belper scoring a consolation goal at the end really annoyed us all.”

With all but one of the top half teams winning last Saturday, Coates admits the players can’t help but to have a look.

“It’s impossible not to keep an eye out on the opposition results of teams in and around the play-offs, however as a team we know it’s our results that matter and if we keep winning then their results won’t matter.”

“Every game from now until the end is just as important as any other. We will set out to win every game and that’s our mentality, we think we can win them all.”

“Taddy is a great club and I’ve felt welcome by everybody involved all the way from the staff and players to the fans. I’m really enjoying playing for the club and I will do my best to help us achieve our goal to gain promotion. Also, the food is class!”
