Ellis joined on loan from Hull City back in March and made seven appearances in the dramatic play-off chase.
“It was an easy decision for me” said Barkworth.
“I wanted to be at a club that is going places and moving forward, Tadcaster is definitely doing that.”
The deadline day signing featured at right-back and centre-back for Taddy but started his career as a box-to-box midfielder. The player returned to pre-season training on Monday night and is raring to get going once again.
“I obviously had a taster of it last season and it’s a really great club all round.”
“I can’t wait to get started properly, get some game time and hopefully go one step further than last season and achieve promotion.”
Tadcaster boss Michael Morton feels Ellis will go from strength to strength across the course of the campaign.
“Ellis has got a great attitude and has come back looking very sharp so hopefully after a full pre-season he can really start to kick on with us.”
Welcome back, Ellis!
