We are delighted to announce that Paddy Miller has re-signed for the Brewers after three years away from the club.

The former Tadcaster captain joins from Hyde United where he opted not to renew his contract due to the travelling becoming “unsustainable”. The left-footer departed the Brewers in 2015 to join Farsley Celtic before ending up in Tameside with Hyde where he achieved promotion last season.

The converted centre-back played 62 times for the Tigers scoring seven goals and keeping 22 clean sheets along the way. Miller bolsters a Tadcaster defence that recorded seventeen clean sheets last season, a superb return and one that won’t be easy to beat.

Taddy fans will remember Miller bombing down the left-wing from a left-back position whipping dangerous balls into the box as well as his slick hair and headband. However his game has changed since his time in yellow as he was utilised and moulded into a strong central defender at Farsley as well as Hyde.

Manager Michael Morton on reuniting with Miller:

“Myself and Simon are really looking forward to working with Paddy again. It’s a big capture for the club not just on the pitch but off it too. He’s top class with the young lads and he will be a fantastic addition for all at the club.”

Paddy Miller on returning to Tadcaster Albion:

“I’m delighted to have joined Tadcaster again, it’s a fantastic club with brilliant people involved.”

“When I left a few seasons ago I made no secret of how much I enjoyed my time here. The club has a brilliant reputation not only in Yorkshire but throughout non-league. Hopefully we can build on that for the upcoming season and make it a successful one.”

“Once I decided to leave Hyde I did have a few options but my heart was always saying come back to Tadcaster. I know the club very well and have some really close friends here also. Part of me since leaving has always felt like I’ve got unfinished business at Tadcaster.”

“The fans when I played and even after I left have always been different class with me and hopefully we as a group can give them something to celebrate in the upcoming season.”

“The boys had a very good season last year and I thought they were very unlucky to miss out in the play-offs but that’s football, everyone will gain experience from that and it will make us stronger and more determined as a group for the upcoming campaign.”

“I’ve known Mikey and Si for years and have a lot of respect for them both. When I first joined Tadcaster a few years back they developed me a lot as a player and challenged me which I loved. They also allowed me to help them coach with the i2i Academy which was brilliant working with the likes of Alfie Beestin, Ronaldo Vieira and Romario Vieira amongst others and I gained a lot of experience.”

“The owners also had a big influence in me returning to the football club, they are genuine people who always have the club’s best interest at heart. Obviously Anna’s food was a big pull in my decision too.”

“Promotion has to be the target next year, the boys had a brilliant season last year and were arguably one of the best footballing sides in the division narrowly missing out on promotion. Hopefully we can go one step further this time round.”

“It will be a lot of hard work but I am sure come the first game of the season the management team will have us in the best possible shape to hit the ground running. Personally, I want to have the best defensive record in the league, I managed it with Hyde last season so would love to achieve that again this season at Tadcaster.”

Welcome back, Paddy!
