After leaving Wrexham last year Roper enjoyed an excellent first season with the Brewers which saw him make 42 appearances in the centre of Tadcaster’s midfield scoring one goal and one assist.
“It’s a club on the up; both on and off the field” started Roper.
“The management team, fans, players and the owners make you want to be a part of Tadcaster Albion Football Club.”
“Mikey and Si are great to play for, they know how to get the best out of all the lads as you have seen last season. As a club next year we will be pushing for promotion and I definitely want to be a part of that.”
Roper’s break-through season saw him scoop both Fans’ Player and Players’ Player of the Season.
“I was buzzing to get both awards. Everyone at the football club has made me feel welcome since day one and that helped massively.”
“Personally I’d like to thank all the fans who have been great all season especially the ones who voted for me.”
“This is my first year at this level and to get the recognition from my teammates also is brilliant. Apart from the last twenty minutes at Bamber Bridge I have enjoyed every minute of my time here.”
Looking ahead to next season, Roper is setting the bar high: “We want promotion, we have unfinished business in the play-offs after missing out in the semi-final last year.”
“Personally and as a group we will be even stronger next season after learning from the experience.”
Manager Michael Morton has identified the importance of getting the midfielder signed up.
“Corey had an exceptional first year for us and thoroughly deserved his accolades but we knew what he was capable of after seeing him in Leeds United’s youth team.”
“Sometimes players in his position don’t get the praise they deserve but thankfully the fans understand how pivotal Corey’s roles and responsibilities are and hopefully he can kick on even more next season.”
