The Brewers exited the Integro League Cup on Tuesday night losing 3-2 at Evo-Stik Premier Division side Scarborough Athletic.

“We were disappointed to get knocked out of the League Cup last night” said Simon Collins.

“Given the circumstances and the amount of players we had missing through injury and other reasons, I thought we gave it a good go against a very strong and experienced Scarborough side.”

Albion were reduced to ten men at the start of the second half when Jack Walters was given his marching orders but boals from Aaron Hardy and Billy Whitehouse did restore some hope.

Assistant Manager Simon Collins strongly felt that his side should have been awarded a second penalty kick to level things up but the officials thought otherwise.

“We don’t seem to be getting much luck at the minute though whether that be with injuries, the rub of the green with the ball or with officials as we probably should have had a second penalty when Lamin [Colley] was brought down in the second half but unfortunately it didn’t quite go our way.”

“We could still be a bit braver in possession but it wasn’t a bad performance from the lads by any means.”

“We should have a few more players back for Saturday’s trip to Pontefract and hopefully we can come away with a positive result.”
